Abstract

  • Michal Rostecki: Writing safe wrappers in Rust
Description: Interacting with C libraries in Rust is done using FFI (Foreign Function Interface), which, while powerful, introduces unsafe code into Rust projects. In this talk, we’ll explore how to write safe and idiomatic wrappers around unsafe FFI code, transforming these interactions into seamless, Rust-like APIs, ensuring the Rust borrow checker handles memory management, allowing us to avoid common pitfalls in manual memory handling. Our focus will be on crafting wrappers that are not only safe but also make using external libraries feel natural in Rust, rather than like writing C.
    Duration: 10 minutes
  • Santiago Fraire: nix and duren for dev environments
Description: I'm gonna quickly try to cover nix and direnv to create developer environments
    Duration: 5 minutes
  • Orhun Parmaksız: 7 awesome Rust terminal tools that you should use
Description: This lightning talk will highlight some lesser-known projects in the Rust/terminal ecosystem that can enhance terminal workflows for attendees and potentially attract more Rust contributors to these projects.
    Duration: 5 minutes
