A more sustainable RustLab
This is the way we are trying this year to enforce our commitment towards a more environmentally sustainable conference:
WE PLANT TREES FOR ALL OUR SPEAKERS:
We plant trees for our speakers coming at RustLab. These trees represent our effort to offset the carbon emissions from their travel to reach Florence for the conference. By planting trees, we’re helping to reduce our carbon footprint and combat the effects of climate change.
WE TRY TO ELIMINATE PLASTIC:
Instead of hundreds of plastic bottles and cups, thanks to our sponsors we provide each attendee with a flask that could be refilled of water from the water dispensers.
WE GIVE SUPPORT TO THE SUSTAINABLE TRAVEL:
We would try to convince you - where possible - to reach Florence by train instead of by plane or by car. Those who will come here by train (showing us their train ticket as a proof) will take part to a contest where they can win a crab puppet and be crowned as "RustLab environmental hero"!
WE GO VEGGIE:
We banned meat from our menus. We took this decision to tackle intensive meat production which is one of the heaviest responsible (at various levels) of Earth’s global warming.
We want to inspire our community to join us in taking action to protect our planet. Together, we can make a difference and create a better future for generations to come.
