I explore how I migrated some of my web services to Rust, and my experiences.
I’m a professional accountant from South Africa, who started programming as a hobby before transitioning into analytics and data engineering professionally. I’m currently an analytics manager at a consulting firm, where I work on prototyping, and managing data projects for our clients. I mainly program in JavaScript (NodeJS) and Kotlin/Java, but also write Dart, Python, Rust and a few sundry languages when the need arises. I’ve spent ~5 years working on a public transit website as a hobby, where I’ve been using Rust for over 6 months with great benefit!
I enjoy playing chess and the occasional internet flamewars when I’m not out living life.
